  1. I emailed CodeJam about this problem several days ago, but have still had no response beyond the familiar "Reinstall everything...".

I'd appreciate it if any other user who has upgraded to the latest version 2.2 could try the following and see if they get the same consistent bug that I get please.

On a rewritable disc that is not empty, use any burning option, i.e. 'Burn existing video disc image' or 'Generate new video and burn into Disc'.

    This is what happens here:
    - Get usual message 'Erasing Disc'
    - Less than a minute later, the tray opens

Behaviour then seems to vary, with two patterns:

    1)
    - Tray closes again a few seconds later
    - Message appears 'Please insert an EMPTY media disc'
(MoT is supposed to be erasing this disc!)

    2)
    - Tray stays open
    - 'Erasing disc' remains displayed, but there's plainly no activity
    - Have to close MoT which is 'Not responding'.

To confirm Erasing as the problem, I first erased the disc independently with Nero Express. MoT then burned correctly.

So it clearly seems to me that MoT's erasing is screwed up. It was working fine in the previous version 2.1.8 and in the beta 2.2.1b I have been using for many weeks at CodeJam's recommendation.

In desperation I also tried instead to 'Use Nero Drivers' (which I have not had to do before). But that gave me a variety of messages during several attempts, including 'Video Files Sorted', 'Video Creation Error', and a bizarre one something like 'Place CD-R in tray' - this for a DVD! Note that I have the latest Nero drivers installed, 6.6.0.13 as specified by CodeJam.

As I say, CodeJam are silent, so any feedback or suggestions would be much appreciated please.

  2. version 2.2 is buggy, and thats a problem with it.
personally i stopped using it when it became codejams property, and use vso photodvd instead.
codejams email support is shite,it seems they must just check the mails once a day or less, and hardly ever have any real clue as to problems and resolving them.

Thanks. Re CodeJam's email, glad to see it's not just me then! I've had just 2 emails in response to my 8 since Monday. On Wednesday, recognising the time zone issue (they are in Singapore, 6 or 7 hours ahead of me here in UK) I asked them:
"I await your urgent replies to these emails please. If you let me know your working window I will try to have something closer to a proper dialogue, even if it means losing some sleep."

But I had no response to that.

Version 2.2 is very recent - about 10 days ago, couple of months after the change to 'CodeJam' - so is that the version you mean?

The exact message is ""Please insert a CDR or just click OK if you are using the Image Recorder." Which seems meaningless in the context of burning a DVD in MemoriesOnTV. All the more reason why I want to avoid the option 'Use Nero Drivers'. Seems bound to complicate matters, using effectively two applications like this, surely?

Very keen to hear from other MoT users.

  5. well i gave up with them(as codejam) and went back to an older version of it,which includes the mpeg2 plugin to enable the actual ability to use a dvd instead of a vcd,and it worked fine, even on sp2 of xp.
f**k them and there shitty support, they just dont have a clue, just like the people that trade on clonedvd's name, calling it clonedvd3,a blatant ripoff of elbys clonedvd2.

  6. Another thing I have noticed in MOT is that certain pictures or video clips are saved in different formats and when it comes to burning, it messes the whole thing up. I've had to delete video that I thought were causing the problems or sometimes I just moved them around. I'm not sure why it was doing this though. Pictures are always saved as jpeg now and the movie clips as .avi - they are then larger but is the ony way I could get MOT to IMPORT them and use them. Also, there are only so many pictures you can use to put on the DVD, I usually wouldn't put more than 200 on one DVD.

  7. Also, another thing. It is basically my cheap DVD that is the problem - it won't burn Verbatim DVD-RW's, only MEMOREX DVD-RW's. (nothing to do with MOT).
