This problem is shared by people who play PC games or who want to connect a 800x600 old projector to pass a higher resolution video.

Could you please help us help a museum to solve a resolution problem in a science kiosk in a 3rd world country?

Problem: we need to run a 3D graphics Macromedia Shockwave application which runs perfectly in 1024x768 video resolution but displays a blue screen with the OEM URL when the resolution is 800x600.

Apparently it validates the resolution before showing graphics and AVIs.

We need to use a lower resolution because the kiosk uses a special monitor (33") which doesn't work in anything higher that 800x600

The OEM won't or can't change the application parameters. There is no budget for another monitor.

We have a GeForce 128 Mb card: the card is not the problem.

I would really appreciate your help in finding possible solutions:

    1. I am looking for an application which would allow me to view, in 800x600 video resolution, the output of an application requiring to play 3D graphics in 1024x768

I need something to trick the software in believing the resolution is right, while using a lower resolution...

    2. Maybe there is a Windows command line which does this?

We found other possible solutions, but they are expensive and hard to implement:

    A. Use a virtual machine created by expensive software such as www.VMware.com

    B. Suggested by thor300: use VNC software (virtual network computer) where the terminal adjusts resolution, but I would be forced to buy an extra PC just for that

    C. Use linux KDE and windows emulation to run the program

Thanks for any tip, includding who might know the answer. I tried several forums without any success.
