  1. Is there a way that I can convert ac3-2 channels to a ac3-5.1?

There's a guide a doom9, but I think all it does it put it equally to the 5.1 channels and not a true 5.1.

    Thanks all

    Hi,

Yep baldricks right. You're best bet if you really want virtual surround sound is to use a receiver with dolby pro logic 2. This creates 5.1 from stereo sources on the fly.

That's probably your best bet. Or one of the other "virtual" modes found on most newer surround receivers.

Could also do the doly pro logic 2 before you encode. Check the doom9 audio forum for different methods for 2ch-->5.1.

I have posted the correct method here several times - there is an incorrect method posted once (maybe still?) at doom 9 and here .....

you have to search for it though ..

This is with common tools - there are also spatial tools to change width and spatial positioning from as little as 1 channel of audio ...

Is there a Pro-Logic emulator of sorts that will take a 2.0 source and convert to 5.1 the way a Pro-Logic receiver would? I'm editing together 5.1 and 2.0 sources in Vegas, and it would be nice to have those 2.0 sources upconverted if at all possible. I read the Doom9 guide mentioned here months ago and it seemed drawn out (not to mention I can never seem to get BeSweet to work on my machine). I was wondering if anybody's written a program to handle all of the steps in the guide.

I'm currently using Hypercube Transcoder to rip the 5.1 Sources to individual wavs and PX3Convert to convert the 2.0 sources to stereo wavs. I then just drop in the stereo wavs and essentially leave the C, LS, RS and LFE channels empty for the duration of the 2.0 source. It works, but having something in those channels would be nice.

this something I can´t understand - have you ever tried my BeSweetInstaller? This should work fine - you can add the latest BeLight version -> a further nice GUI besides BeSweetGUI.

    2.0 -> 5.x
there are many ways to reach the point - I would recomond to give the bidule-methodes (www.plogue.com) a try. Meanwhile those methodes are very very fast.

I have only read the headline of this link -> it handles obviously only the upmixing to DPLII

Maybe something like Dolby Headphone in reverse could do the job

I guess Nuendo could do it. But you have to buy also the plug-in Dolby Digital Encoder in order to encode to 5.1.

  13. This link may help, although it is the "expensive way" and free solutions exist.

Do a search as BJ_M suggested.

there are good VST and DX plug-ins for imaging, 5.1, dimensional and positional sound and such ... to work with vegas, cubase and the like ...
