Hy all,
I'am at the point to build a writing DVD pc.
When i was creating VCD and expecially SVCD i found that most of standalone DVD player was not able to reproduce CD written more than 4x.
In that case pixel come out in a dramatic way.
I wonder if there is a similar issue making DVD over than 1x written (that I'am actually dooing) and if anyone has experienced a difference between one brand of DVD and another at a parity writing speed.
Could be possible to write 8x and see everything run good on standalone player, or maximum choice would be 4x or ... less?

Ive burned dvds at 8x and its come out alright in my standalone player. Burning speed does not affect the quality in any way.
I guess it depends on a number of factors:
burning program used
standalone dvd player make & model
type of media used
Try using different media. I use Taiyo Yuden which are great. -
The player doesn't know what speed was used when writing the DVD, as little as you can see how fast I wrote this text. However, fast writing might introduce read errors and "weak spots", but that's related to your writer/media, rather than your reader.
