    Hey all,

I have been having problems playing burnt DVD-R on different Toshiba players lately and thanks to some insight on this site is sounds like it could be the fact that MyDVD stinks. I am new to the creating/burning of home DVD's and am going to by some new software for editing/creating DVD's since I don't like my current setup (Pinnacle with MyDVD). I am a musician and have used Sonic Foundry's ACID Pro (now Sony's ACID Pro) program for many years. I downloaded a trial version of Sony Vegas Movie Studio and found it pretty easy to use since I already know the lay of the land from ACID. I taked to some friends in the movie field that told me to buy Adobe Premiere. Needless to say I am a newbie and don't really have a spare $600. I do see that there is the Adobe Premiere Elements that is more in my price range. Both the Vegas and Adobe products are in the same price range so it really boils down to content. Does either program stick out as the obvious buy? Does one have better authoring software then the other? Just figure I would asks everyone's opinion before I buy one.

    Thanks,

    Todd

    Try both demos.

Premiere Elements is a severely dumbed down version of the real Premiere Pro.

Vegas Movie studio is a subset the full Vegas program.

You need to choose your peer group. Vegas evolved out of Sound Forge and has serious music roots. I can't remember all Movie Studio features, but the full Vegas integrates well with Sound Forge and Acid.

Premiere Pro has some sound features but relies on the optional "Audition" based on Cool Edit Pro. See http://videosystems.primediabusiness.com/ar/video_adobe_audition/

The user interface has been slow to integrate well with Premiere. It still feels like a separate product. I haven't seriously looked at the most recent Audition changes.

    Try them both and choose.
