  1. Used virtualdub for the first time and it works AWESOME when joining multiple avi's together. However i noticed that after joining the avi files the file size is usually significantly larger. It is nearly double the size of the originials when combined together. Any ideas why or how to change it so its the same file size after being joined?

    Thanks again

  2. Make sure you set it to direct stream copy for both AUDIO and VIDEO!

  3. Thanks for the suggestion. I had a problem when i tried joining the avi's together because of different sampling rates. So i searched on the forum and found that to solve this i had to save each individual avi with

audio - full processing mode and video
    video - Direct stream copy

This fixed the problem but the file size was significantly larger. I will try setting both audio and video to Direct stream copy and see what happens.

    thanks again

    Well that explains it then!

If the audio sampling rates are different (or it is VBR MP3), then follow the instructions about converting each avi to uncompressed audio.

Then, whnen you join them, you can re-encode the audio to Mp3 (if that is what you want) by using full processing mode for the audio in virtualdub.
