Are there any alternatives to the Canopus AC Adapter? (ie a universal AC->DC adapter) If someone could some one provide what I should look for?

AIFAIK any adapter will work as long as it's the same voltage, mines labled 5v.

BTW in case you are not aware the 110 doesn't require the adapter if you are plugging it into a 6 pin firewire port on your computer or other 6 pin ports.

Your power supply can put out more amperage than your device needs, but I wouldn't use one that puts out less amps. That is, if your device requires 3 amps (just throwing a number out there), as long as your power supply give at least three amps, you're cool. Voltage is more critical, you want to stay pretty much right on the voltage for lotsa reasons.

Real world example: Your car battery puts out 12 volts at something like 300-600 amps, depending. But you're fine running even little tiny 12 volt lights off it (at maybe .5 amps per bulb for some dashboard lights) because -- insert long speech about electronic theory here blah blah blah -- because the lights (and other devices) only draw as much current (amperage) as they need. The voltage is always the issue, so again, make sure your voltage is on the money.

I tend to use power supplies with anywhere from 2-5 times the current (amperage) required because this way I can use said power supply with big, power-hungry items (like laptop computers) as well as little circuit board projects and it works for everything.
