Lately whenever I view a video I get what appears to be a frames per second indicator in the upper right corner (usually purple or black). It didn't use to show this and I can't figure out what I may have done to turn it on. It happens with videos of different formats: .avi (usually xvid), .mpg, and .wmv. It doesn't seem to matter what software I use either. I've tried WMP, Media Player Classic, and Winamp- the only difference being some videos show the indicator in one player but not another, though most videos have the indicator with all the players.

Does anyone know how to turn it off? I've searched the player settings as well as the xvid codec settings (for the xvid videos) to no avail. The only multimedia related software I installed recently (upgraded from old versions actually) are Quicktime Alternative and Real Alternative, neither of which should affect other codecs than themselves. I did also recently upgrade Winamp, but as I said there were no options that appeared to deal with this and uninstalling it did not fix the problem.

I just know that this will have some simple solution- I just can't find it. Thanks.

Problem fixed. Apparently it was a video card tool, ATI Tray Tools, that was causing this. The latest version upgrade added this annoying feature. I admit it has its purposes, but at least I now know how to turn it off...
