Does anyone know how I can finalize discs recorded on a Panasonic DMR-E60 with a DMR-E50? The E50 plays the discs but says "Cannot Finalize" when I try to. I don't have the E60 anymore, darn it.
I tried to install the firmware update on the E50 but the display said "unsupported", which means it doesn't need it according to the Panasonic website.
Thanks!

After attempting to finalize the DVD on the wrong machine, it would play on each machine, but never could be finalized on either machine.
My solution was to rip the unfinalized DVD using ISOBuster, and using DVD creation software to create the menus for the ripped videos. -

But you are right, the downloaded file must be uncompressed first on the PC, and the PANA_DVD.FRM file is the one copied to the CD-R. -
That's right. Now that I look REALLY close on the firmware update page it shows an illustration of the file that you're supposed to burn to the CD-R and the filename is PANA_DVD.FRM, which is what you get when you click on DMRE50.exe (the downloaded file). Thanks to y'all for the info and boo to Panasonic for leaving out a small detail that's essential to the plot.

So, KeepItSimple, were you able to update the firmware in your DMR-E50? And, did that solve your finalization problem??
-
Yes I was able to update the firmware after I burned the correct file to CD. I don't know if it will now finalize those discs from the DMR-E60 because I already finalized them on the new DMR-ES10 (a good DVD Recorder even though it doesn't have a bitrate display as earlier Panasonic models did
). BTW the discs I was trying to finalize were DVD-R, not DVD-RAM.
