I have an .avi-file but I can't see the subtitles. I have xvid, divx and vobsub 2.23. I've used a few videoplayers like windows player and bs-player. The option for subtitles is now unmarkable.

Well it's certain that there are subtitles. Also, there is an description that says about subtitles.

Why is it certain? You never gave a reason, other than the description bit and that was an also, so not the main reason.

Open the file with AVIMuxGUI. Does it detect the subtitle stream?

When i want to open the file, it says only .avi files can be read. The file is in the avi-muxgui, but i can't generate data source from file.

I've checked with gspot what sort of file it is, and it also says it's an .avi-file.

  9. Open it in VDubMod. Click Streams-Stream list. Look for subtitle stream. I don't know if VDM can demux it. BTW which codec reported GSpot?

VDubMod doesn't support subs in avi. Only mkv's and ogm's.
