Alright, I just bought me a dvd recorder.. I currently only have cable tv, too much $$ for sat and broadband.. anyhow, my tv image isn't as clear as I'd like.. is there any kinda filter I could put on the line or anything? its not too bad, just kinda lines in parts when the tv show is dark... anyway to clear this up? the coaxial cable goes directly into the dvd recorder.. Thx!!!

ALSO... I;'ve noticed.. the image is really clear, until I press record on my dvd recorder.. why is that?! whut can I do to fix it? thx -Adam

do you think the problem is the cable signal itself, or the signal coming out of the dvd recorder? If its the signal from the cable, what I did was buy a signal amplifier from walmart, it helped enough for my 10 bucks. If its the signal coming out of the dvd recorder, I dont know, maybe someone can suggest something.

If the signal you are getting is poor, maybe the cable company will check it to see if their equipment needs replacement. I don't know what you get in Taiwan, but in the U.S. my cable company replaced the entire cable from the street to my TV free of charge.

Funny! So call the cable company and ask them to check if your signal meets their specs. My guess is it doesn't. They don't want you switching to satellite so you have some leverage.

I've tried an RF cable signal booster but it doesn't help as much as getting a good signal in the first place.

Why do you think it's there? It's so we can help you by knowing where in the world you are.

All right, I'll let you off then.

A lot of people don't bother to fill it in and then expect us to be able to read minds by asking a question that is country specific. With different countries having different standards for video, it's a lot more important than many seem to think.

I had a similar problem recently. I replaced the line out from my DVD Recorder, with a better insulated home theatre cerified cable. Then used a 15 db RF booster. I stil have the slightest bit of white noise, but you can't notice it until you're right close to the screen. Chances are it's you're hook up.

not much I can do with the line in.. I don't think, cause it comes straight out the box outside from the poll, into the house and straight into the dvd recorder.. (coaxial cable) i'm tlaking about...

  11. Hi:
Some times this works to improve your signal. You may want to try and clean the wire in the coax cconnecter. Manufacturers use a varnish coating on the copper wire to prevent corrosion. With a sharp pen knife, scrape the copper wire in the connecter to remove this varnish coating.

I think I know what you're talking about. I used to get annoyed by seeing these same interference-type lines in dark areas on the screen. The cable company is the only one that can fix this as far I as know. I haven't seen the lines for a long while now, maybe because my line was upgraded to a higher quality cable when I had a cable modem put in (or maybe it was because I complained enough about it).

You might also want to try this excellent RF cable on the end of your incoming line:

Not exactly cheap, but it cleaned up a lot of grunge in the signal for me and makes my DVD recordings look very clear. And it has a 1-year return policy if you aren't happy with it.

Once you get the input coax working right, be sure to use separate composite (yellow RCA) or S-Video (better) cables between the DVD recorder and TV. If your TV doesn't accept these inputs, then it's time for a new TV.
