quality-wise they all suck badly, good for low-motion movies, or the ones that don't need to be transcoded at all after removal of useless audio tracks and other crap. Might as well backup your dvds to DivX or SVCD on CDR and have better quality in some cases, and please dont reply with "speed" or "convenience" arguments - because if you do 'backup' more than 1-2 movies daily (700 movies a year) then youre most likely doing illegal copying of rental stuffOriginally Posted by kush(unless someone just bought first dvd writer and needs to backup his entire 10000 dvd title collection during this summer lol

I would be happy if you use CloneDVD, but dispite common believe you can combine AnyDVD with DVDDecrypter as well.
Just do the following:
1.) Use ElbyCDIO as the I/O model.
2.) Disable the structural protection removal in DVDDecrypter.
DVDDecrypter will see the disc as unprotected and will continue to work... forever.

Wednesday 22nd June 2005HOSTING PROBLEMS, NEED NEW HOST!
ATTENTION ALL WEBMASTERS AND HOSTING EXPERTS: I am now currently having website hosting problems and I need to find a new host AS SOON AS POSSIBLE on foreign servers! It would be best if I could host the website on a China or Russia server FREE OF CHARGE! If you have any experience in finding FREE Website hosting on foreign servers please contact me immediately at lightninguk.dvddecrypter@gmail.com! It appears that people, (POSSIBLY MACROVISION) contacted Yahoo GeoCities! and Lycos Tripod! and sent them a notice of copyright infringement and my 2 USA Hosts were shut downLife is like a pothole, you just have to learn to get around it. -

I just wanted to say that DVDDecrypter is/was an awesome program and i appreciate everyone who helped create it and make it avaiable to people like me who want to backup thier discs.. I have no intent on pirating or using any of mine for anything other that of personal use..
I think this is Bupkus..
And sony (supposedly) isn't losing money yet but they will when all of us stop buying thier stuff..
Maybe someone with some time on thier hhands can make a public awareness site addressing this exact issue, I would love to send that link to all my friensds and spread the word..
Thank you for everything, while it lasted, Massacres

Its officially not available in some countries, while some other countries with different laws still host it as usual.
It is user's responsibility to know is this software legal or illegal in your country, so here is the link to it:

I doubt there will be new versions of DVD Shrink - the guy works for Ahead/nero now.
I guess he could always 'pass the torch' to somebody else, but I doubt he would after the big fat legal fiasco with DVDDecrypter.

if you mean by dvd decrypter, yes some newer ones could not. However, dvdfab decrypter (which is also free) kind of picks up where decrypter left off and can rip the newer discs that decrypt could not
-
dvdfab decrypter is very good but it oes need some more function than its current rip the whole disc and that is all. very good to have another ripper for newer dvds but it would also be great to have options similar to decrypter for individual files ect
-
That i agree with as well, but in general just knowing you can back up the disc without an issue is much more reassuring than worrying about splitting streams, etc. As you can virtually do all of those other "perks" on your hardrive with other apps
-
Yeah i saw one post about a dvd in the U.K. that DVD Decrypter would not rip, can't remember the name of it, but i have yet to have a dvd not be rippable with DVD Decrypter alone!! And i have done quite a few new releases in the last 2 weeks. guess i'll just have to wait and see if any come my way :P
And i will never stop using DVD Decrypter as there are way more options and uses that dvdfab decrypter does not do.

I have disliked sony and sony equipment for many many years, even before dvdr's, sony would sell you music cdr's, cd burners with software that specificaly addressed making/copying music cd's, yet their own cd & dvd players would not play cdr's -

Someone asked whether DVD43 could be used with DVDDecrypter in the same way as AnyDVD. (Why would you want to do that? It's inferior, currently at least, to DVDDecrypter). Hmm, couldn't you set I/O to Patin-Couffin and uncheck "Check for Structure Protection" under General Tab? Someone wanna tell me it's a dumb idea before I try it?
[EDIT] This thread's been going awhile, and I forget if anyone already mentioned PSL files. If so, my apologies.Pull! Bang! Darn! -
