    In dvdshrink when re-authoring under where you choose language ithen says subpicture. What the hell is the subpicture and do i need it?

    Subtitles. No idea if you need them or not.

  3. Subpicture is a generic term that covers subtitles, the buttons in button-over-video (BOV), and other overlay graphics (translations for foriegn-language signs for example).

    It's up to you if you want to keep them or not. Subpictures rarely take up much room, so you won't gain much by removing them.

    Ok I was just confused if they were the subtitles or some sort of actual video that was needed. Why didn't they just use the word subtitles instead of subpicts......lol

    Because they are called sub-picture in the design spec. They may also be things other than subtitles, including meu overlays or other graphics. If you have the original Matrix DVD it has a feature called 'Follow the White Rabbit'. While you watch, a white rabbit appears in the corder of the screen Press the Enter button and you get a small clip of behind the scenes footage. The rabbit is a subpicture.
