  1. I have used MPC for awhile now and it has never given me problems until now. I just got done formatting and reinstalling xp. I installed MPC and now when I double-click on a video file, MPC will open up, then crash. However, If I open up MPC by itself and go to File>>Open and manually chose the file that way, it plays just fine.

    Any suggestions?

XP probably wants to use WMP instead. Change the default for the types of videos you use to MPC as the default. It's about impossible to kill WMP, but you can make it harder for it to butt in when you want to play a video.

Yes, and check it occasionally to make certain the settings stick. I once had the same problem.
