  1. Hi everybody: This is my first post to this forum. I am having a very frustrating experience trying to burn a dvd. I have two avi with ac3 files that I am trying to burn to a DVD to play in my DVD player. How do I burn these two files into a DVD?
I tried using WinAvi video converter but gives only converts the video part and forgets to convert the audio. Same story with InterVideo WinDVD Creator 2.
Is there any application that can do this?
    Thanks
    DAN

What AVI to DVD guides have you tried? Read'em all, try'em all... Stay clear of apps that do the whole process for you - they are bound to fail on most AVIs.
That said, for an AVI with AC3 audio, just encode video to DVD specs m2v (TMPGEnc, QuEnc, MainConcept, Procoder...), demux AC3 audio (VirtualDub), author with m2v as video source/asset, AC3 as audio source/asset (DVDAuthorGUI, TMPGEnc DVD Author, DVD-Lab...).
As you see, if you're so inclined, it can all be done with free apps.

This will result in 2.0 AC3, so if you have 5.1 don't use VSO

  5. Thank you all for your replies!!!
Mat, I was trying to avoid using that many applications. Is a pain in the B! But I guess I have to use your methods as winavi only did the video part without decoding the audio even tought it has the option of AC3

Ulapines: I tried with VSO DivxToDVD and it did create the .vob file with audio that I could play with divx player. However, when I tried to burn it to a dvd using nero it said that is was not a valid file.

This brings me to another question...what is the next step after creating the VOB file?
I AM TOTALY CONFUSED AND FRUSTRATED
    THANKS

You need to burn the two folders VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS to DVD, vob is not a valid DVD structure.

After creating the VOBs (and IFOs and BUPs), all that's left is burn it to disc.
