hello everyone, im trying to rip a DVD-R to my HD using DVDDecrypter, and im getting read errors on 3 files. now this could be to the fact that the disk is a little scratched, and and my friend which i borrowed the movie from said that the DVD will skip towards the end of the movie. in that case should i try the toothpaste method, or should i use Isobuster to try to extract the files (which also gives me errors) and keep hitting RETRY, because something seems to be wrong... thanks

Skipping towards the end of the movie generally indicates crap media and/or a damaged disc. It also generally results in "Irrecoverable Read Error" and "Cyclic Redundancy Check" errors in DVDDecrypter when you try to rip it. Since it is a DVD-R, there's no real need to use a ripper - you should find that you can simply copy the files using My Computer or Windows Explorer. You might want to try a couple of different DVD Drives and see if their sensitivity is different to yours, or try one of the two methods you already know about.

You've been here long enough and made enough posts to know how to use the search feature, too
    If in doubt, Google it.

In DVD Decrypter you can tell it to ignore read errors, in Tools>Settings>I/O check Ignore read errors. You may get a few glitches on playback but you probably did in the original.

i tried the ignore method and im not satisfied at all, most of the end is cut out, and the tootpaste method was a waste of time. my friend informed me that it was not a scratch or anything, but the burning on HIS comp didnt go so well (he made me go thru all this...), but anyways, thanks
