Hi,
This has been a problem for me for quite some time... (in fact around 2 weeks already..)
I use the encoding software TMPGEnc Pro, I got the mpg file from ULead Video Studio, since I captured a video from a video camera (Sony IP55) using the MicroMV plugin... and firewire cable...
after I captured the video from ULead (I think its in raw mpg format since the size is too large), I noticed the sound/video is not synchronized when I press the fast forward button or I seek for a specific time...
So I decided to reencode with TMPGEnc Pro..
Here's the settings I used in reencoding:
Stream-Type: MPEG-2 Video
Size: 720x480
Aspect Ratio: 4:3 Display
Frame Rate: 29.97 FPS
Rate Mode Control: Constant Bit Rate
Bitrate: 8000 kbits/sec
VBV buffer size: 224 KB
Profile and Level: Main Profile & Main Level (MP@ML)
Video Format: NTSC
Encode Mode: Interlace
YUV Format: 4:2:0
DC Compression: 10 bits
Motion Search Precision: Highest Quality (very Slow)
I did not change any other settings because, I am new to this stuff..
When I tried playing on my pc my reencoded mpeg it worked fine...
But when I burn it to a dvd-r then tried to play it w/ dvd players (components players), the video gets very very shaky when there are many walking people or many things on the scene. (its like watching 3d glasses video without a 3d glasses lol)
I also tried it on dvdx player for xbox... I got the same results above...
But when I tried playing the dvd movie after I burned it on Intervideo Windvd, windows media player 10 and also the xbox media center for xbox, It worked fine on those players..
Can anyone help me regarding this please? Is there a term for the problem I have been witnessing?
I used Ulead video studio in creating menus and preparing the folders and iso to burn..
PS: I used Nero to burn the folder/iso, but I also tried ulead in burning but worked the same result as nero..
thanks again

sorry if I put this in a wrong section, since I dont know where my problem lies.. since I captured, encoded and authored a dvd...

Sounds like a field order problem?
Also, using Motion Search Precision: Highest Quality (very Slow) has no visible advantage over the 2nd quality setting - but takes immensely longer time to encode.
I guess it's a DV cam you got - Transfer it to computer with WinDV, encode DV AVI to mpg directly with TMPGEnc.

No idea, actually.
But been around here long enough to recognize your symptoms...

Generally speaking (NTSC): The top field comes first if your source is analog, bottom field first if your source is digital. (However, things can get screwy.)
Also, for better compatibilty with standalone players, I'd lower the bit rate to 6000. Furthermore, be sure to use quality Japanese made discs (like Taiyo Yuden) for better compatibility. -
Hi, I have tried changing it to upper field first...
The 1st two mpegs (which I captured from a MicroMV camera) worked... which was great)
But when I tried it to the rest of the mpeg (Which I got from a DV camera), It did not work...
I captured both using Ulead....
btw, out of curiosity, what does non-interlace do with interlace? should I change this setting? It's currently set in interlace...
thanks
