Apologies in advance if this is too much of a noob question.
I'm converting my entire collection of DVDs to xVid .Ogm format in order to save some shelf space (I live in Japan). I've been mostly using DVDtoOGM, although I'm finding that I still prefer to do some of the steps manually with VirtualDubMod et al.
In any case, I've managed to get multiple audio tracks, subtitles, and such figured out with the many framerates and types of DVDs in my collection (23.97 prog/29.97 prog/29.97 inter/23.97 inter).
However, chapters are giving me a headache. So far, I've been using SmartRipper to pull off the chapter info, but I noticed on one of my movies that in the finished version the chapters weren't synched the same as on the DVD. I sussed out that it had something to do with the fact that I was using Forced Film to force a frame rate change (29.97 to 23.97), since the Chapters were drifting quite dramatically. So I extracted the chapter data separately using Chapter-X-Tractor. That was a lot better, but now, instead of being off by 10 seconds to several minutes, the chapters are only off by 8 to 40 frames. But they're still off.
It's not the end of the world (obviously), but has anyone got some experience with this-- I'm pretty good at butting my head against something until I figure it out, but I admit that I'm at a loss on this one.
Cheers.
