  1. I'm trying to burn a dvd with nero version 6.6.0.12.
There are more then 100 numbered files, & it's giving me the following reject msg for all files over 99 when I try to import them into the video folder.
Any ideas of how I can resolve this?
    Thanks, TC

You can have up to 99 Titles, each containing 99 chapters.

If you got more than this, then you're gonna need to use more than one DVDR or combine some titles.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. The main reason why you can only go up to 99 is because of your filename format. To be in DVD specs, it has to be 8.3. Eight alphanumeric characters, followed by a period, and then a three-lettered extension.

VTS_100_0.IFO is out of specs with a 9.3 filename format.

That may be so, but it's also a restriction in the DVD standard (that in turn might be based on the 8+3 restriction, which I doubt, as it has UNIX roots)

  6. Thanks all for the responses.
These are extras from a dvd that I'm trying to back-up, but the files themselves only number about 58 when I put them into dvd shrink.
I believe it came out to something like 109, so does that mean for everyone of those 58, it makes 2?

Seems odd - You're not seeing both original and shrunk? I've never used DVDShrink on files so I don't really understand what you've done.

Let's go right back to the beginning to see if we can make sense of all this.

Can you provide an elaborate step-by-step of exactly how you've gone from getting the extras off the source DVD to when you end up outputting 109 files ?

ie. "I used the Open Disc method in DVDShrink to open the DVD. Then I used reauthor mode and dragged each extra feature across to the left hand side. Then I outputted to Hard Disk Folders."
    If in doubt, Google it.

  9. Open up dvd shrink 3.0.
    Open up the dvd.
Hit the re-author button, open up the extras folder & drag the extras to the new window.
I guess the problem is that while there are 48 numbers in the folder, there are numerous files with the same number with continued after it.
So, is it possible to have 2 video folders on a dvd, so I can divide these into 2 video folders since all together they would occupy less then 1/2 dvd.
And, if you can't have more then 100 files, why was this dvd possible in the first place?

So it goes up to VTS_48_xx.VOB, but then there might be VTS_48_1.VOB and VTS_48_2.VOB ?
If this is the case, both files are a part of the one title.

It is quite possible to have more than 100 files, because it isn't the files that we're counting here - it's the number of titlesets. AFAIK each titleset can have up to 10 VOBs (0-9), so it would be quite possible to put 990 files on a DVD (99 titles x 10 VOBs each).

I think you're gonna have to get your hands a little bit dirtier than just using DVDShrink because of the sheer number of files involved, and you might even have to do some creative reauthoring.
    If in doubt, Google it.
