Add sub to what? An XviD avi? XviD mp4? Add subs whilst converting an avi to an mpg? Convert something to DVD and add a seperate subtitle stream?

 What exactly are you asking?

Well if you are using TMPGEnc to encode an mpg, then either frameserve using AVISynth (better) or VirtualDub or use ffdfshow to decode and enable subs.

Nero to transcode? Get it right the first time and you don't need to do that. Also if you final destination is DVD Video, then you can add the subs as a seperate stream rather than hard encoding them.

Lastly, subs have been covered numerous times in the forum already and probably also in the guides.
