I don't own a Hauppauge card, but I've seen that they are highly regarded by most users. Today, however, I was reading a Wonder Elite review, and in it they were comparing its image quality to a WinTV card. As you can see, the difference in image quality is pretty startling. This surely can't be a 150 or 250 card, right? What card do you think they used?

It could easily be a 150 or 250, that's been seriously detuned.
If they chose to use some crappy mpeg rendering decoder, and a very low bitrate, then ANY mpeg will look like that.
I know the 550 is supposed to be a glorious card, but the software limitation is an immediate warning sign for me.
Not everyone likes the bundled ati stuff, and the review only mentions PowerCinema (which you have to pay extra for), Beyond TV (yet another bloated POS payware), and MythTV (great, if you happen to LOVE Linux).
The fact that they DO NOT mention what card, what capture app, what decoder, nor what screengrab software used, makes me suspicious already.Cheers, Jim
