I've tried numerous times to install XP but have been unsuccessful. The system freezes at random points during installation. I'm attempting to install the os on a virtual machine created by MS Virtual PC. I'm thinking that possible my system's power supply may be strained. Does this sound plausible to anyone else?

I'd try swaping the ram first if you know someone who uses the same memory. That is assuming you've already removed all non vital hardware.

Did you run a compatibility test before you tried the install?
