Okay, first off.. Let me apologize because I am a total and complete noob when it comes to DVD burning, but I just got an HP dvd530i a couple of months ago, used with Memorex DVD-Rs and Staples DVD-Rs. Whenever I try to burn larger, (and by larger I mean over 50 mb, which in actuality.. is not large at all) video files or ISOs onto a DVD, the playback freezes and stops between 20 and 40 minutes into the video. This has happened on every single video file I've tried to burn, with the exception of very small videos I've been able to fit on there. During the burning process, it appears to stop abruptly and on the disc itself it doesnt appear to be completely burned.

I've searched relentlessly on google for an answer, and on here I've seen semi-similar threads saying that the culprit was bad media, and I'm hoping that's what it is and not my new burner. So if anybody could please help me out it would be very much appreciated, seeing as I'm very new to DVD burning and this is my first experience with a DVD burner.

    Thanks

Try a higher quality media such as Maxell or Fuji. Make sure they are made in Japan. Most people here will tell you that Memorex is far down the list in terms of quality.
But since you do have them, follow jetfan's advice and burn at a lower speed. If you still don't see an improvement, change brands of DVD-Rs.

  4. When you buy dvd media use this as a rule
Final Cost = Total paid cost /Number of successful burn (total number - coasters)
In most cases experience shows cheaper media costs more!! made in Japan dvd's if bought on sale or the right place will cost same or less than those bad media. Consult www.nomorecoasters.com
