I ripped a Hong Kong DVD onto my HD and followed: "Sefys All-In-One newbie DVD Ripping guide"
*Cladmdec worked fine
*DVD2AVI worked fine except the mp3 bit which my version didn't have 1.76 & 1.82
*Saved project with DVD2AVI (1.82)
*Encode with TMPGEnc 2.02 (same settings as guide with NTSC VCD template)I encoded half of the movie.
My problem is that the encoded MPEG the sound is about 3-5 seconds ahead so the sound doesn't snycronise with the picture? please help

if the sound is outta sync for the SAME length throughout the movie, then u can do this in tmpgenc
under filters, there is a source range filter. in that filter, there is an option for audio skew where u can tell tmpgenc to start the audio earlier/later (in milliseconds) -
1.I used win media player and winamp to find out the timing but do I have to encode it again? that would be another 7 hours
2.There a way to find out if the sound isn't sync before encoding frist time? play .d2v files?
BTW 1000 Msec = 1 sec?

When you save the DVD2AVI project the wav file should be made with a file name that contains an offset in miliseconds. This value must be used when encoding the movie. Under source range in TMPGEnc set your audio skew to this value and things should be dandy.

i believe 1000 ms = 1 s
also, u can encode a small portion of it and then check out the .mpg file to see if it's still outta sync -
So there isn't a really accurate way to find out how many milisecs the audio is off only be play the encoded and wav seperatly?

Sorry for barging in, I was curious as to why DVD2AVI created a file that is a 2_0ch and not a 3_2ch ? is the movie you did a Dolby Digital 2 channel only ? doesn't it have a 5.1 channel ?

Don't know, I just left the settings or used to same ones as in the guide. The DVD is from HK.
Why doesn't it sync audio+picture correctly? How can this be perevented before encoded with TmpGnec?
DVD-->VCD----Rip dvd to HD-----save project---encode full film----cut & edit into 2 parts---burn into 2 cds.
This is the method am thinking of doing next time. -
REdman which version are you useing ?????? and are you useing the option ForcedFilm??????
-
if your useing the version 1.84 or 1.85 ones and useing force film that your problem..these DVD2AVI changes the fps to 24fps instead of the NTSCFilm fps of 23.967 so i suggest you use 1.74 or 1.76 to use the forcefilm option

Redman4321, now I see where the Sync problem begins! you encode the entire movie, and then you cut it in two! that near in all known cases creates a sync error! you should have kept going by the guide and encoded it in two parts in the first place!

DVD2avi 1.82 i haven't used film forced yet.
Sefy I encoded half of the film on my first attempt and this was how i got incorrent sync audio by 12 secs.
This is what i did:
*Clad-->ripped to HD
*DVD2Avi same settings as guide
*Tmpgnec start frame at beginning to about half way
*Ended up with half the film as intended with full audio
*When encoded and played, audio starts off too soon.
Audio in film should start at 23ses. The wav file starts playing at 11secs. 12 secs difference.
The method I mentioned previous post is what i was thinking of doing next(not done that way yet)!

In the Source Range, you can input how much the delay is between the Audio and Video, and this could help fix any delay that exists provided you know by how many seconds.
