I haven't touched it in over a year and a half. What are the new products out there that are used for video editing/dvd creating. Also, what could I use for dvd capturing? Are there just card that you have to put in your computer or do those external USB devices work as well too? Any info or pointing me in the right direction would be great. Thanks for your time.

There's tons of products, most if not all have free trial periods.
To get video off a DVD it can be as easy as coipying the .vob file to your comp and changing the extension to .mpg, if that doesn't work or you want some more options try DVD Decrypter.
Capture card depends on your budget and what you want to do with the video. For AVI capture I'd suggest a Canopus ADVC or if your in the market buy a new DV cam with passthrough capability. For direct mpeg capture many seem to prefer the Hauppage 250 or simply using a DVD recorder and transferring to PC for edit. There are diffewrent and cheaper solutions as well but the qabove 4 I mentioned seem to be the least troublesome.
