  1. Greetings All
I was wondering about the sucess rate of Windows XP & All In Wonder Radeon combination. I want to install XP and also get a All in Wonder Radeon. Also how is the quality of the board, lockups, bad captures, all failures. I had a All in Wonder 128 Pro and got rid of it.

  2. I'm using the ATI AIW 32 DDR version with XP with no problems. ATI released several XP drivers awhile back, not all cards have the full driver upgrade to take advantage of all the special fetures of specifc cards. NO BSOD so far.

Believe it or not, the Radeon is actually auto-detected by XP when you install it, so it's supported. Plus, driver fixes from there, and now there's a compatable MMC version out for XP.

And, I can attest that V-Dub works just fine with XP also.

Wish I could ride on your bandwagen.
    I've had nothing but problems.

I built my machine especially for the Radeon:
Athlon 1.2Ghz, 256 megs, 7200 capture drive, etc.
No other software running on this machine.

At first I had Win98se and could capture video and use TV on Demand. It crashed from time to time, but not too bad.

Reformatted and installed XP Pro. I haven't been able to use TV on Demand ever since. The whole system lock up. Can't even Ctl./Alt/Del.

The card is on it's own IRQ.

What MB are you guys using? I'm using a Shuttle with a VIA KT133a chipset.

I've spent at least $450 on this thing. Wish I had just bought a TIVO.

    Whats "Jet way"?

Thought about going to the KT266, but then I'd have to buy new RAM too. I know it's cheap, but I've already poured too much money into this beast.

I also built an Athlon 1 ghz with 256 mb of ddr and the aiw radeon. I have had nothing but problems from day one as well with the tv-on-demand and the digital vcr function. It did work for a short period of time when I had Win 98. Now I have 2 partitions with Win 98 and Win XP and it works with neither. The machine locks up and I ultimately have to restart. I have tried MMC 7.1, 7.2, and 7.5 with no sucess. Anyone know what might be wrong?

  10. I was able to get it to work with my new HP.

    P4 2GHz
    756 MB SDRM
    7200 RPM hard drive

The key is to remove the Nvidia display driver from the machine and install the latest ATI driver from their website.

I do have a gripe. When I record live TV with the "Best quality" setting (8Mb/s), the CPU is pegged at close to 100% and I still have 1-2% of the frames dropped.

Anybody seeing the same? Does the ATI recorder show <1% of frames dropped even if it doesn't drop a thing? Does it ever show 0% frame dropped?

    Thanks.

  11. I only have a 1GHZ Duron system, 256DDR ram, 7200RPM HD, etc. I can only get 640x480 with no dropped frames. I have to drop the bitrate to about 8.0 MBPS to keep away the dropped frames. I don't know if this is a problem with the video hardware, it could be the sound hardware not being able to keep up with the video stream (it drops frames to keep things in sync)

I am using XP, but my results are the same as when I had Win2000. I went to XP because 2000 didn't detect my Power management hardware on the MB... I assume those having XP/Radeon problems have the correct drivers, and their AGP port is set to 4X...

  12. I am getting a bit frustrated due to the more problems that I found. I had to reformat the hard drive and recover Win XP to the original state to start over. I highly recommend people using the "recovery point" thing to save the machine states before doing the card.

I am so glad to find a community of users here. Maybe we can help each other out and get our hardware to work. I'd appreciate any info on the items below:

    1. File player crashes everytime I try to play the "best quality" files that I captured. It'd crash before showing even the first frame.

    2. CPU pegged at 100% and dropping frames as reported below.

    3. TV tunner couldn't lock on to certain stations (2/3 of them) and it changes from time to time. When I revert to the display driver that came with original Win XP, this proble goes away.

    4. I have the AGP card and a flat pannel display connected to it throgh the VGA adapter (not direct digital connection with DVI). Can't get both the TV and monitor to display at the same time ever. I read it on ATI web site that DVI and TV won't work at the same time. But I am connecting with a VGA cable. Anybody got it to work?

    5. Short of getting both to display, I tried to program the hot keys to switch between the monitor and TV displays. However, I can't switch the display to 800x600 using the hot key. So I always have to mouse and click to change my monitor display setting, then hot key to show only on TV before I can view DVD movie with full screen mode on my TV. Is there a better way to do this?

    6. Can't seem to get any S/PDIF output form the card. I have a receiver that takes the input and when I plug it into the Sound Blaster Live S/PDIF out, I hear high quality sound. When I hook up with the Radeon S/PDIF out, I got nothing.

I know this is a lot but I see a lot of knowledgeable people here so I am hopeful. Thanks in advance.
