  1. with all the dvd players stand alone types on the market that make dvd with commercials
Now what would be nice is a program that will let me edit out the commercials from the vob file and then save it back to a vob file or dvd format
without ripping out the movie and the sound first and converting back to avi.

there must be a simple program about

also one that can blank out the lower section as much as required .

There are plenty of basic editors, but I'd suggest Womble MPEG Video Wizard if you intend to do anything extra (i.e. transitions, cropping, level adjustments, etc.) MVW comes with a 30 day free trial period. BEWARE: Once you try it, you won't be satisfied with one of the simple editors.

Here's a link to the basic editors.

    VideoReDo is regularly recommended too.
There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

    Carpe diem.

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room.
