Yes, the Hauppage cards don't look for the MV signal.

No it's not... it will work. Never been lucky to have one work by using 2 VCRs as the copy protection is still there. You have to remove it from the original output of the 1st VCR. Back in the 90's after a certain brand of VCR , brand new, ruined my VHS tape (made or distributed by the same company) I decided to take advantage on my right to make a backup to protect my investments. A guy on a forum made me a little box which if you google you can probable find thousands of links that you take the video out cable from the VCR and input it in the device. Then take another video cable and run it into whatever your recording device is. It will work. Dont give up.
The link to facetvideo-com posted above looks like a fair deal. If you have lots to backup it's well worth it.
I've got most of the MST-3K collection taped from the Comedy Channel and then from the Sci-Fi-Channel. Glad I did because they are expensive buying from Rhino. And the DVDs are way over-priced and do not follow the season. I still carry a grudge against the Sci-Fi- channel for canceling the show.
    Again, Good luck.

  3. Thx NiteLite....canadateck's way still didn't work....it's really pissing me off! At least I can watch it on VHS! This is the 1st tape I have had a problem with and I have transferred ALOT of VHS tapes to DVD. I really don't have many more to transfer to DVD that are commercially made...but I would like all the MST3K on DVD. The prices for these on EBay for the complete series is unbelieveable....
    check this out:

and here is the price of MST3K the Movie on DVD:

  4. Wow...amazing. $300 for a DVD. Probably a copy
Due to an accident I lost some of mine and browsed some mst-3k forums found on google and located a friend that helped me out. Very reasonable.
Quality was poor as you know how VHS suffers badly after 2nd generation but I had to have the episodes.
I really wish Rhino would put out the movie on DVD and put out complete seasons instead of skipping around.
Anyway, there is help available. Google was very helpful.
    Good luck.
