How do i know if my new standalone LG LDA-530 uses a ess chip set or not? I looked on this site and on lg site, my manual and google but could not find out? to use auto-g2k you need to changing a setting if you have a player with ess chip set. anyone know or know how i could i find out?

    thanks

Could do a search and see if anyone else has ripped on open yet or run a test. ESS doesn't support qpel, although I guess it isn't the only chipset that doesn't.

The menu's I would also imagine should be a bit of a give away.

LG players use MTK chipsets here though and judging from the info here: https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=5647&Search=Search&orderby=Name I would say that it does to. LG here doesn't have issues with packed bitstream and > 1 bframe like some MTK based players either.

Just an update. i made a xvid with autog2k and i choose not to use ess sopport, the xvid worked perfect. so i would assume its not an ess based chipset.

If you find out what chipset it is don't forget to post it in the dvd player list, https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=5647&Search=Search&orderby=Name (click add report).
