OK i'm about to put a shiny allformats DVD writer (including + and - DL) in my PC after having a DVD-CDRW combo for donkeys years. Thing is it hasn't come with any software.

Now i can probably figure out how to go about preparing the stuff to put on the disc, but what programs would people reccomend for burning the dual layer discs? The cheaper the better of course, with freeware being tops

Want it both for video and for data. Being able to get 8.5Gb of my PC (OS, work documents, digi photos, mp3s etc) backed up in one swoop will be A+++ super duper neato. The copy of nero i have (5.5.10.54 i think) only supports single layer DVD, and to upgrade to the newest version is about 50 of your local currency.

Looked thru the tools section and the guides and it doesnt look like DL is quite popular enough yet to be supported, or at least obviated through the titles.

    Thanks

  2. I've read many posts on here and people are having success with DVDdecrypter which is freeware.

There is one hell of a long post on here somewhere regarding burning dual layer discs and the layer break problem and the outcome from it is that Recordnow ver 7.3 seems to be the best for burning movies to dual layer without a layerbreak problem, some people have reported problems with this when using decrypter.

    Here's the post:- https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=225001&highlight=

You can also use Recordnow for data burning.
