  1. I have authored a DVD with DVDAuthorGUI, but when I play it (both in software and on a JVC XV-S502), the reported time is exactly half of what is shown when I play the original mpg file. Because of this, the chapter points are later than they should be.

    The mpg was muxed with mplex and subtitles added with spumux.

    This is the XML that DVDAuthorGUI creates:
    Code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <dvdauthor dest="D:\Video\Enterprise\Enterprise - Ending Part 1 DVD">

      <vmgm>
      </vmgm>
      <titleset>
          <titles>
           <video format="ntsc" />
           <subpicture lang="EN" />
           <audio lang="EN" />
            <pgc>
              <vob file="Z:\Video\Enterprise\DVD\Enterprise - Ending Part 1 DVD (subbed).mpg" chapters="00:00:00.00,00:02:18.00,00:13:51.00,00:25:11.00,00:35:22.00" />
              <post>exit; </post>
            </pgc>
          </titles>
      </titleset>
    </dvdauthor>

  2. Now that I've checked it, the reported time is exactly half of the actual time (if I seek to the end, the player shows half of the actual length). If I play the source MPG file in Windows Media Player, the time is shown correctly.

    How were your files encoded ? I have seen CCE do odd things because the default starting time is 1 hour, not 0

  4. The video was encoded with TMPGEnc and the audio with BeSweet.

    Also, I just tried authoring the DVD with IfoEdit, and it has the same problem. Though it wouldn't play in Nero Showtime so I just copied the IFOs from the other one, maybe that had something to do with it. I'll try to get the IfoEdit generated ones to work.

  5. The IFOs generated in IfoEdit don't seem to work in Nero Showtime.. I don't know why..

  6. Okay, I got them to work, I changed the res in both IFOs from 352x240 (the actual res) to 720x480. Now it plays correctly, except that the playing time is 33 minutes instead of approx. 41 minutes. That's 4/5 of the actual time, so it must be playing at 30fps instead of 24, right? It isn't noticeably faster than the original, though. I think it's only when I seek that the time goes screwy.

    you did set tmpgenc to encode to 23.976 (internally 29.97) right? To me, it doesn't sound like the pulldown flags have been inserted.

  8. That setting "23.976 (internally 29.97)" isn't listed in my TMPGEnc..

    Wait, if I put the encode mode to "3:2 pulldown when playback" it shows up.. I will see if it works. Thanks.

    It turns out I encoded at the wrong res anyway, so reencoding is a good thing. lol
