Hi
I have a dvd which has already been backed up by a friend but unfortunately there is a large countdown clock at the top of the screen. Is there anyway to remove this but still keep the quality of the film.
Many thanx![]()

and no you can' keep the quality. and this is not authoring. movin gyou. -
Sounds like someone has a prerelease copy of a movie.
Google is your Friend -
Virtualdub, with logoaway (and the right settings), then frameserve.
It's virtually unnoticeable.Cheers, Jim

do these logo away programs just blank the area or do they attempt to fill it with the correct colours?
i saw the screenshot of ROTS with those stupid counters on them here the other day
i cant believe people could watch it with crap like that on the screen
it didnt look awfully good picture quality either -
I'd put myself in the more distracting boat. As far as WHAT he's backing up we don't know its Starwars so its it own business.

I did 3 trials.
First I used Region Remove. Horrible.
Second I used MSU subtitle and logo remover. Better, but still bad.
Third, I used Logoaway: thus:

the counter clock is sometimes on the "extra scenes" of retail dvds
think i saw them in the extras on
1 season of alias not sure which off the top of my head
national security
shallow hal
but no proper film would ever ship with them on
can the logo removal be used on things like skyone programs or any other station which puts a stupid little signature on the screen
or does it have to be box shaped which could end up screwing up more of the picture than if it was just left alone -
It can be used to remove (almost) anything from (almost) any video.
It's limited only by what YOUR version of virtualdub/mod/mpeg/ac3 can open, with the codecs installed on your computer.
I use it to remove TV station logos, hard codec avi subtitles, time counters, whatever...
It's generally box shaped, however, using soft edges, varying the X Y weight, and the Blur power, you can almost always do better than leaving it on the screen.
UGLARM does a better job sometimes, but is EXTREMELY slow...as in 10 times slower, so a frameserved encode to tmpgenc would take about 4 days
BTW, it can also be used to ADD a logo or picture to the video.Cheers, Jim
