The optical drive in my G5 went bad and Apple sent me a new replacement model: Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-107D. Just installed it and the firmware update it said I needed: V5.1.4 and now when I try to use a
program called: Fast DVD Copy 3, to back-up my DVD's, I get this message:

"The drive region code has not been initialized on this computer."
Never got this message before the new install & upgrade. Can anyone
tell me how to do this? Would sure appreciate it.

When you get a new drive installed,
the computer wants you to set the default region
for the drive, as it doesn't know where you live.

Get a commecial Release DVD and put it in the drive.
Launch DVD Player, and it will ask you before
you play the disc, "Do you want to set the Region Code?"
It will read the region code of the disc, and set it to that.

If you live in the USA, always set it with an American Release DVD first, you can always change it
( up to 4 more times) afterwards by inserting
a Commercial DVD from another region.
