  1. Okay first let me explain that only one part of this question belongs in this section, the other is more of a broad problem and I really couldnt figure out where to put it... Well, here goes.

Okay, I was attempting to join 2 large movie files (mpegs) using tmpgenc's merge/cut function. Well, when I merge them, there are two major problems that happen. First let me explain that the merge seems to go perfectly, no errors, nada. Well, the size of both files are about 1.5 gbs total before the merge....after it, only 1.27????

Well as for the problems that occur...

First, the end of the movie gets totally cut off. Which would explain the difference in file-size. Second, once the movie makes it to the 2nd part of the merge (the 2nd file, so to say) the audio goes waaaaay out of sync!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is driving me INSANE...but not as much so as my 2nd problem.

When I try to watch these videos (by themselves or together), the video is not centered. This is the most aggrivating thing I have ever encountered. It wasnt like this before, but no matter what I uninstall (programs, drivers, etc...) the problem persists. I have a feeling it is a codec problem, but I dont know. I feel like my head is about to explode!!!

Thanks in advance for any and all help. And Im sorry my question turned into a book so to say....

Well, if part of the first MPEG is missing or corrupted, that would explain the sync problem. BTW, if your final product is DVD, I wouldn't join them. The authoring program will set them up to play one after the other and this eliminates a lot of sync problems.

Anyway, the first file apparently has a problem. If you fix that a lot of your other problems may go away. Take a look at the 'Tools' section under 'Video Repair....' for programs that may be able to do this. Or you may be able to cut out the bad part with a MPEG editor.

  3. Thanks, I will definately try it...

Only thing is, I have played these files before and havent ran into the problem of the off centered video. When I play it in windows media player (v9) it is off center to the left, when I view it in ulead (the program I am using to create the dvd) it is off center to the right????

    Any idea whats causing this???

Because like you said, I really dont "need" to join the videos, but I do need them to be viewable...

Again thanks for the quick reply and any other help or suggestions anyone might have!!!

Actually, I've never succeeded in joining two mpg (that I haven't created myself using TMPGEnc) without major sync issues.
I think I've read somewhere that TMPGEnc only promises to sucessfully join mpegs that is also encoded by TMPGEnc.
But mostly, there's no need to join mpg's, at least if you're going to author or do anything else with them later on.

    /Mats
