Do a search on Google for midi to mp3, there are quite a few programs out. I am not sure which one is better.

Look in control panel/sounds and audio devices/audio/sound recording/volume/options/properties and see if there is an option for 'what u hear'.If it has that then check it and use that for recording and download audacity and use that to record the midi sound as its playing and save as mp3.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

Apple's iTunes will convert midi to mp3. See:

...as for editing MIDI - I'm tempted to say "a MIDI editor" But to help you in the right direction, look at MIDI sequencers. Google for it!

Most solutions will output wav files, saving as mp3 is a second step.

The quality of the wav file from midi depends upon the quality of the sampled sounds available to the OS or MIDI software.

Microsoft XP has its own sampled sounds, and the sound card will have its own sampled sounds, either in hardware or as software. It is possible to download extra sampled sounds, called "soundfonts" or "patch files" A popular freeware program called TiMidity, perhaps now a bit dated, can be used to create wav sounds from midi files.

On the profesional side, it is possible to pay big bucks for "software synths," plug-ins to midi software that use high quality sampled sounds to create wav files or CD quality audio playback from midi files. I believe the Cakewalk line of software offers this.

    Good luck.
