For those of you who shop at Costco, they recently shipped the summer 2005 Passport booklet with a buy 1 get 1 free coupon for the TDK 100 pack +/- 8X printable discs. The only drawback is that you have to wait until August: it's valid from Aug 15 to 21. With the coupon, they should come out to around 21 cents each. (Based on the 50 pack for $21)

How reliable are those TDK printables? I ask because I've had coasters with their regular DVD-R 8x media. I ended up returning the spindles. There were others who've had the same problems as well. The discs wouldn't record on my standalone PIONEER 220-2 and produced coasters on all of my pc dvd burners. Has anyone actually used these printable discs? Media code?

I bought the 50 pack and they burn beautifully on my Pioneer 108 - no coasters.

    What's the media code?
I bought the -R which are made in Taiwan and the media code is TTG02. The +R are made in India - I think the media code is something like MBI (don't really know for sure).

  8. TDK is not what it used to be.
if you get -R's then you have 50-50 chances to be good, but +R's are some shitty media ones.

I'll pass up on those TDK media since I've had coasters with TDK. The quality control of TDK media has been crappy lately. I'll stick to the TY printables from Rima.com.

Yes, I am a newegg.com whore because I buy most of my computer components from them. I'm like a kid in a candy store when it comes to newegg.com!
