  1. I merged two SVCD files I had to create one big SVCD mpeg. I try to open the mpeg in TMPGEnc but I get an error saying it cannot be opened or is unsupported. I've installed the plug-in found in the tools section of this site but that didn't work either. This may be a bad assumption, but due to the quality of SVCD i'm assuming I can it to DVD without any loss? I know there is always some loss within converting but i'm aiming for as little as possible. Is TMPGEnc the best program to convert with if I don't want much loss, or could anyone suggest any better methods?

    Many thanks.

  2. Just author the SVCD to DVD without re-encoding.
It should play on most standalones.
If you want to re-encode to DVD, tmpgenc will do it, very slowly.
Try Mainconcept mpeg encoder, CCE Basic, or Canopus Procoder Express.
Another easy way, would be VSO Divx to DVD.

  3. How do I go about authoring without re-encoding it? Is there a way of finding out whether my dvd player will play it without re-encoding?

  4. Disassemble the SVCD to elementary streams (video and audio) and load them in an authoring software (TDA, DVDLab, DVDAuthorGui, Gui for DVD author, DVDStyler)
Burn on DVD+-RW and try to play in the player. Check if your player can play RW.
If it doesn't work , run the mpg through DGIndex and save project - d2v file. Load this d2v file as video source in TMPG. Encode.
