  1. Hi all.

Anyone know of a good media player that has a reliable, and more importantly, DRAG-ABLE progress bar?

To clarify, the player should flick through the movie as the bar is dragged. Not like the MS Media Player bar, which you can drag, but which doesn´t change your position in the movie until it's released.

I use BS PLayer at the moment.

WinDVD and PowerDVD both have dragable progress bars, yes, but both suffer from 'irritating media window resize' syndrome. (ie, drag the corner)

(I love the BSPlayer function of the mouse wheel resizing the media window)

But while BS player is superb (it plays everything well), its progress bar is a 'click-it-and-see' type. For long files, it´s impossble to click through scenes without missing loads. Dragable wins every time.....

This is almost exclusively for .mpg and .avi files from the hard drive. For DVDs I use my standalone.

Obviously the hard drive would need to keep up with the dragging, and I understand the latency / delay if it doesn´t.

Have so far been advised (on another forum) to try VLC (doesn´t do it) and Media Player Classic (which does, but I´m not mad on the inability of the window to open only at 50, 100 or 200 % of original media size......I want it to open at the last place / size player was - there´s an option in there for that but it appears not to work)

Any other candidates for me to try? Ta muchly.

It's not really a media player, but the view video window in DVD shrink does this. The audio isn't muted when you drag the bar across either.
