i have a video that is broken into 31 rar files, i just wanted to get the first one open. when i try to extract the first one then its has to open all or nothing(and i don't have all of them) i thought it was a par thing so i tried smartpar but it didn't recognize it.

AFAIK, you either need all the .rar files or the .par's that can replace them. If it has .pars, I use QuickPar, for regular .rar files, WinRar.

so if i can't get the missing ones then there is no possible way to get into one single one?

ok how do i do that with quickpar? windows meida player doesn't open it. heres exactly the message i get "Next volume is required. you need to have the following volume to continue extraction. insert disk with this volum and press OK or try again or press cancel to break extraction" i only want to get the video out of this file alone. i know theres got to be a way to get that one extracted by itself.

Open the first rar with winrar and choose extract and in the sub menu choose keep broken file, this will allow you to extract a portion of the movie you want as long as you have that first rar file in the series.
I think,therefore i am a hamster.
