  1. Hi All,

tis been a long time since I was last here, bought myself a Sony DVD Handycam and now need all the help I can get!

Basically I opted out of spending the extra £150 for the next model up with DVout as I though hey, I've got a DVD ROM and DVD Writer so editing shouldn't be a problem! Boy was I wrong!!!

I've tried many programs to find one that will edit Vobs and have only found the one but It doesn't import DVD menus created in Photoshop CS.

So that brings me to one question, I have looked but have not found a definitave answer. If I convert my VOBs, to M2v and Audio is there any loss in video quality and also If i "Faked the file to an AVI" with a prog such as VFAPI is there any Loss of Video,

I know my camera captures sound in AC3 so I also have to be able to work with that.

Some please tell me there is an App I can just dump my VOBs into for editing, I'm not really looking at editing per se but more cutting and chopping, but want to incorporate a DVD menu created in Photoshop.

    Many Thanks in Advance!

    Ryan

No quality loss, you just separate the audio and video to separate files.

If you want to do editing and keep the quality(no reconverting at all) you can only cut and join, you can use mpeg-vcr, videoredo, cuttermaran, tmpgenc mpeg editor. See our tools section under Basic video editor MPG.

If you want some advanced editing use mpeg video wizard, it only reconverts the parts that needs converting like if you add transistions or such.
