  1. I have a powerbook and an old PC CRT Monitor that I would like to use together in my post-production work. I've heard a lot about Colorvision's Spyder hardware calibrators for use in print and image work, but I haven't heard anything about whether they would be useful in video.

Rather than spending a bunch of money on an external NTSC monitor, I would love to get this device and calibrate my powerbook screen and the CRT monitor to the proper NTSC color bar levels and use them. Would this product work for this?

Does anyone have experience with it?

I use the SpyderPro (older version than the Spyder2) regularly on my monitors, both LCD and CRT, and can't imagine how I got by without it.
I don't use a Mac, but my unit did come with software for a Mac, so I would imagine it would work just as well for you.

  3. VegasBud, do you use it to calibrate monitors for color correction for video/film? I know some people that love Spyder for their graphic work, and I'm trying to see if it can cross over to the video/film post-production field to enable a workstation to color correct without a dedicated NTSC monitor.

    Thanks!

    travtufts,
Sorry, I don't work in the film/video industry, so I can't advise you as to whether is is suitable for post production.
For me, video is a hobby, and that's the only reference I have. There are certainly some very knowlegeable people that appear to be professionals on this site. Perhaps if you started another thread asking if anyone knows about the useability of Spyder in a professional setting, someone will be able to help you
    Good luck.
