I have looked at the guides to convert and I have read many threads to date. I have converted many things to VCD in the past and now I rip to DVD. So am not a total noob - but don't tell me off for posting questions regarding simple stuff. By the way the link for VCD to DVD conversion using TMPGENc does not work......
I have loads of (PAL) VCDs that I made using TMPGEnc to produce a standard compliant VCD and then burnt with NERO (then was NERO 4.9, later 5.xx)
I now want to put theses VCD files onto DVD. A number off them are films spilt onto two discs from VHS captures. I'm not overly concerned about getting these files joined, but I would like them to run one after the other - preferably though with a menu on start up so I can also select manually. I will primarily play these DVDs on a portable (and rather fussy) DVD player - which plays all but Divx (on good discs).
I have full copies of TMPGEnc and TMPGEnc DVD Author (but no AAC plug in) as well as NERO 6.6 ultra
I understand I can use Isobuster to "rip" the .DAT or .SEQ (or whatever) files to my hard drive then I can use DVD Author to try and make a compliant DVD. But will this will rely on the audio being converted by DVD Author? and will it be in sync.

If this method doesn't work I will have to re-encode as Mpeg2 using TMPGEnc. Do I just "rip" the files with Isobuster then import into TMPGEnc and re-encode? Do I have to de-mux and convert the audio seperately- I know the DVD will want 48hz rather than 44.1?

As I have NERO ultra will I be able to use it's video conversion tools to convert straight to DVD from the files or am I stuck with having to re-encode with TMPGEnc. I haven't as yet experimented much with the extras that came with the ultra upgrade (I had to upgrade cos my previous version didn't work with XP SP2 which I have just installed)

Any advice or suggestions will be gratefully reveived.
    Regards

    This is very simple indeed:
Get the mpg (not .dat) out of the VCD(s). VCDGear or IsoBuster can do this.
Using TMPGEnc DVD Author, load the mpg as video source to a title. If the movie is split on >1 CD, keep adding mpg's to the same title until you've added all CD's. Remove chapter points inserted by TDA between mpg's to avoid the slight pause that might otherwise occur.
To add more than one movie to a DVD, add a new title, repeat above.
TDA will take care of the audio sample fq problem automagically.
Of course, as with every conversion, there's a risk of sınc issues, but if your source mpg is in good shape, it shouldn't happen. This risk remains the same even if you reencode "by hand".
