All you need a a CGMS controller. A unit that generates it's own Copy Always CGMS command.

I can see that a CGMS controller would allow recording whatever flag was being set by the broadcaster. In the example I described above, however, the programme was a terrestrial analogue channel being recorded via the Pioneer's internal tuner.
I'll get hold of some kind of external device to go between my cable box and the recorder if this becomes a serious problem in the future. -
OK, that sounds like the solution. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good GCMS controller (that will handle PAL) and a vendor for this?
