  1. i have checked the TDK specifications for my drive, but fail to see any mention of the highest available (U)DMA access available on my drive.

currently, i only have UDMA 2 (33 Mhz) as an option.

i dont see settings for it in the BIOS, nor does it make a difference slave/master/cable select or the drive being solo or paired...

so im begining to think that UDMA 2 is the highest this drive is capable of...

    what does your say?

    anyone else own a TDK?

Your HDD should be installed as master on IDE_0 (master) and the burner should be installed on IDE_1 (master).

You haven't given a lot of detail of your setup configuration, anyway, check to see if both devises are in DMA mode, DMA mode is important.

Use DVD Shrink to encode, re-author and shrink the DVD to a single ISO file onto your HDD. Note: The drive you are sending the image to 'has' to be formatted NTFS, if the drive is formatted Fat32 make the ISO images in 1g blocks.

Use DVD Decrypter to burn the ISO image.

A simple, quick, 2 stage exercise that will ensure trouble free backups .....
.... More importantly, both applications are FREE.

  3. well, it is master on its channel.

    ide 0 has 2 40 gig maxtors.

    ide 1 is my TDK.

i know how to author and make ISOs of DVDs.. is that just oyur sig line or something?

the question is what is the highest UDMA mode my drive wil support.

it is now in UDMA 2.

my harddrives both are in UDMA 5. my board supports 5.. does my DVD burner?

Almost all DVD drives are limited to ATA33,which is why you should never put a DVD drive on the same channel as a HD. Benq(Pioneer) does make a drive that supports ATA66.
