i was wonder if "Magic V ModChip" was a good mod to get to play backup games

Hmm... The old "which mod chip is better" question. You may get better results from a Ps2 forum. I really don't have a suggestion. Just prepare to be flamed... locked... etc.

Get the magic KX+ or the magic S chip I have installed a few and people are very happy with it

DMS4 and maxtrix chips are also good

I have always liked the messiah chips

It also depends on your ps2 model I have a matrix infinity in mine and I love it

Its differnt storkes for different folks though you will probably get 100 differnt responses on this questions

Any program that can make a dvd image and or cd image will do

Use good qulaity media they have reviews here on this site I personally perfer apple, verbatim, or ritek brand dvd-r media

i've heard that bad media can burn out the lazer on the ps2
is this true?

Yes it causes premature wear and tear on a laser
