How do I add in my own title screen? [my own credits]

I want to add in a title screen in my video, but how do I do that? The tutorials explain how to add in subtitles, but not my own title screen. What tools might I need?

A very simple program is "Animation Shop 3" it comes with Paint Shop Pro. You can make some cool intro's and save them as AVI ready to be joined to your movies.
