    Hi,

I bought I DVD. It comes with subtitles in English, the problem is that they are out of sync ! The subtitles come 3-5 seconds after the actor speaks, but this is not constant.

What I want to do is to be able to acess the subtitles and and edit the tempo of each line , with a video preview, just like working in a timeline.

Or any other alternative ? please give me suggestions. Remember that the problem is not constant, so its not just a matter to add an offset at the begining. Seems that the creators were drunk0 when they did the job.

i have a similar problem with an Indian DVD. the subtitles come after the actor speaks, and the delay becomes larger as i progess through the movie. it would seem to me that the DVD was converted from PAL to NTSC but the subtitles were ignored. does this make sense (or would the subtitles come before the actor speaks in this case?)?

your suggestions, Baldrick, involve manually syncing each subtitle with the video, a painstaking and arduous process.

if my assumption is correct, is there a more automatic and quick way to resync the subtitles?

    please advise.

    thank you.

If you're a programmer, applying a % time shift to text based subs (.srt as an example) is pretty easy. Could also be done in Excel for those proficient in that app.
But I doubt you'll find any "General Purpose Subtitle time shifter" if Subtitle Studio doesn't come with that function... Don't remember, actually. It has some frame rate time shifting capabilities, so that might work...
