  1. Hey all,

I'm making a compilation DVD and most of the videos on it are 720x480. all the material is 4x3 full screen. However, a few of the videos are 704x480 and i'd like it all to be uniform so that I dont have to create differnet titles for the few that are 704. any suggestions? i'm using TMPGenc DVD Author.

    You will have to re-encode.

Use TMPGEnc 3.0 Xpress. Or use VirtualDub MPEG2 (or mod), resize with lacsos3 and frame serve it to TMPGEnc plus 2.5.

  3. Looks like i'll try xpress.

is this going to screw with the quality of the original file? is it difficult to do with xpress?

  6. Rather than resize, you could simply go into SETTINGS -> ADVANCED -> CROP and set the option for CENTERED (I believe). This will position your 704 x 480 video inside a full D1 720 x 480 screen with black bars on either side. Because of overscan, however, the black bars won't be visible on any normal TV.

  7. You could always use DVD patcher to patch the file headers to 720x480 so that TDA will accept them.

This will however still require reencoding. I think bugsters brilliant idea should be tried first. Fast, and no quality loss.
