  1. I am using TMPGEnc DVD Author - no AC3 plugin - cannot get TMPGEnc to recognise it unfortunately. I have my video converted just fine, but audio always goes out of sync.

The problem is someone has put their own 10 second or so title on the front of the movie, and whenever I convert the audio, this first ten seconds are missed off (they are silent, I presume this is why??)

I have tried using MainConcept MPEG Encoder and ffmpeg_gui

Help!! Thanks in advance for ANY reply!

    1) Cut out the first 10 seconds or so of title
    - or
    2) Add 10 seconds or so of silence to your audio

  3. I fear if I do this, I will not get the timing exactly right. The clip is just over an hour long, so lip sync must be perfect!

I have ripped the audio as wave and it plays perfect, but TMPGEnc wont accept it and if I convert this wave file, the 10secs of silence are not there!

Any good audio converters which will handle this?

TMPGEnc doesn't take a wav file as input? Then it's not a wav, IMO...

Still sounds odd, but encode it to MP2 (toolame) or AC3 (ffmpeggui) then?
If the wav is in sync then whatecer you encodeit to will also be in sync. 10 seconds can't just disappear if you encode to another format.

  7. I have found that TMPGEnc DVD Author will reject a wav file sampled at 44.1KHz (standard CD sampling) -- Is the file a compliant 48KHz DVD wav file ?

  8. Still sounds odd, but encode it to MP2 (toolame) or AC3 (ffmpeggui) then?................. I have tried converting to these two formats, but the 10seconds are still removed from the start of the audio. I converted using ffmpeggui, so I will try toolame when I get home tonight. I also tried using BeSweetGUI to convert but this also chopped off the firsdt ten seconds!!

Still - just encoding a wav to any other format wont make it 10 secs shorter. I'm positive, it's not the encoding that removes the 10 secs.
Are you sure those are present in the wav?

  10. Still - just encoding a wav to any other format wont make it 10 secs shorter. I'm positive, it's not the encoding that removes the 10 secs........... the wave file is perfect. I extracted it using Nandub and the audio starts at around 8 seconds. When i play my Xvid file, the audio starts at around 8 seconds.

When I convert the wave to another format, the audio starts immediately without any delay.

Cannot get toolame to work any other ideas?

OK, so add "around 8 seconds" to your wav. That's the only option I can see is left (or author with IfoEdit, that allows for setting audio delay).

Open your wav in Audacity, use the "Generate Silence" tool, then edit the length to match your video.

Use AC3Delay to add 10 seconds to your audio file.

  15. well, after all the hassle, i used VirtualDub and cut the video at the exact frame - I had forgotton about this VERY quick easy and useful feature

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I tried Goldwave, but I couldn't find out the precise time I needed audio to start and end, plus the fiddly PAL/NTSC time changes.
