    hi folks. i'm trying to put 2 films on one DVD. i have 1 x movieA.ISO 1 x movieB.avi

movieA is NTSC (29.97 fps) and movieB is PAL (25 fps)

movieA is 1.4gig and movieB is a 700MB DivX

if i go ahead and convert movieB to a PAL MPEG using TMPGEnc Plus and then author a DVD with both tracks using TMPGEnc DVD Author, will it play ok on Australian (PAL) DVD players? i'm a bit stumped as i'm kind of new to this.

    thanks heaps for your time

Cannot mix PAL and NTSC on the same DVD, but if you convert the NTSC to PAL and both to MPEG2 format that you can author to VOB format with something like TMPG DVD Author, it works.

If you don't want to convert one to the other format you can author on seperate discs, I've seen it noted that most standalone players in PAL land will play NTSC discs.

  4. Author both seperate so that you have 2 files that are both DVD's. Now use DVDShrink and choose reauthor. Add both files to the project. You won't have menus, but they will both be on the same disc.

  5. You have to author as separate titlesets.

Authored as seperate titlesets is a) unsupported by many authoring tools, and b) not in the DVD spec. Expect it to play on some PAL players and almost no NTSC players. DVD Lab is one of the few tools that will author it, but you have to turn compliance off and you will get a warning. Shrink apparently can pull them together, but the same caveats regarding compliance and playability hold.

  8. It is possible without reencoding, have a look here:

That method of JohnsO sounds like a good one.

Again, you get non-compliant, out of spec output which may not play on a lot of players. PAL and NTSC have different resolutions as well as different framerates. You can't just change the framerate and change format.

    Out of spec.
Make two discs. Or convert one file.
I'd personally just make two discs.

  11. I do it all the time. Run each file individually through DVD Author. Now you have 2 DVDs. Run DVDShrink and choose re-author. Drag both titles into the project. No menus, but PAL & NTSC titles on the same disc. Any DVD player that can output PAL & NTSC will play it....in my experience. Usually any of the APEX or the like (of which I have a few) will play it no problem. Obviously not the best solution, but if its not for archival purposes who cares.....
